Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders

Receptive Language Disorder
Children with receptive language disorder have difficulty understanding the language they hear. This means they might struggle to follow directions, understand questions, or fully grasp conversations. While they can speak and use words, understanding what others are saying can be a challenge.

Expressive Language Disorder
Children with expressive language disorder have trouble using words to express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. They might have difficulty putting sentences together, finding the right words, or explaining things clearly. While they may understand language well, expressing themselves in speech or writing can be hard.

Mixed Receptive and Expressive Language Disorder
Children with mixed receptive and expressive language disorder face challenges both understanding and using language. They may have trouble following directions and understanding what others say (receptive), as well as difficulty expressing their own thoughts or feelings clearly (expressive). This can affect both their speaking and understanding abilities.
